Phosphorous Acid Crystal

Phosphorous Acid Crystal

Phosphorous acid (H₃PO₃), or orthophosphorous acid, is a crystalline solid with potent reducing capabilities. You can konw from its formula that it has two hydrogen atoms connected with oxygen (OH groups) and one directly connected with phosphorus (P-H bond), so we can differentiate it with phosphoric acid (H₃PO₄). Phosphorous acid itself is not directly available to plants, however; its salt forms (for example, phosphites) are extensively used (efficaciously) in agriculture.

Benefits

  • Plant Defense Stimulation
  • When added to soil, it can strengthen the plant's natural defense responses, helping it resist stress and pathogen attacks.
  • Single Source for Cultivation in Prepared Soil.
  • While not a typical phosphorous-based fertilizer, phosphorous acid in the form of phosphites is quickly taken up and moved within the plant tissue, offering a secondary benefit.
  • Crop Health Improvement
  • Enhances plant metabolism boosting root growth, flowering and fruiting.
  • Eco-Friendly Option
  • Provides an eco-friendly solution for disease prevention with lower environmental effects than synthetic pesticides.

Uses

  • Foliar Application
  • Spraying of diluted phosphorous acid solutions on crops delivers: Disease resistance.
  • Rapid uptake and systemic distribution for protective and nutritional effect.
  • Soil Amendment
  • For disease control, they are applied to soil to control diseases by soilborne pathogens and to develop healthier root zones.
  • Hydroponic and Drip Irrigation Systems
  • For use in nutrient solutions for hydroponic systems, to act as a fungicide and promote plant growth.
  • Dilutable to be injected into drip systems for localized disease control and enhanced plant health.
  • Post-Harvest Applications
  • To fruits and vegetables to prevent storage rots due to fungal infestation.
