Magnesium Sulphate

Magnesium Sulphate

Magnesium Sulphate (MgSO₄) using magnesium, sulfur and oxygen; an inorganic salt. It is most commonly found in its hydrated form, Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate (MgSO₄·7H₂O) and commonly called Epsom salt. This mineral is utilized as a source of magnesium and sulfur in agriculture, medicine, and numerous industrial applications, as these are an essential nutrient.

Benefits

  • Source of Magnesium
  • Magnesium is an important compound that is found in chlorophyll and helps plants with photosynthesis.
  • Enhances the Availability of Sulfur
  • Sulfur is a part of amino acids and proteins synthesized by the plant.
  • Repairs Deficiencies
  • Assists in overcoming magnesium and sulfur deficiencies that can cause yellowing, stunted growth and yield loss. Promotes plant's flowering, fruiting and seed formation, leading to better crop productivity.
  • Enhances Nutrient Absorption
  • Facilitates better uptake of other nutrients including phosphorus and potassium.

Uses

  • Soil amendment
  • Used to correct magnesium and sulfur deficiencies in sandy or acidic soils.
  • Foliar Spray
  • Made by dissolving in water and spraying on the leaves of plants to quickly correct the lack of nutrition.
  • Seed Treatment
  • Seed germination and early growth can be enhanced using manganese sulfate with improved root development resulting in healthier seedlings.
  • Drip irrigation/fertigation
  • Applied in irrigation systems to deliver magnesium and sulfur directly to the root zone.
  • Hydroponics
  • A critical substance in nutrient solutions in soilless cultivation systems.
